The RealSense Photobooth was created by us and Caffelli in partnership with Intel to be used at Intel’s IDF conference in 2015. We also created a couple versions with different environments that were used for different events in 2016. It uses a RealSense camera to capture images of users and insert them into different environments, giving the illusion that the users took a photo in those environments. The captured image could then be printed or emailed to the user if they wanted.
These are some of the main features of the app:
- Insert a user into an environment without green screen, using image segmentation from RealSense
- Use hand gestures to control different parts of the app (thumbs up to initiate a photo being taken, hands to select environments and buttons)
- Share photos via email or print
- Dynamic depth of the user segmentation image to enable layered environments
- Adjustable lighting controls to match environments
- Choose from five different environments to take a photo inside
